Jitney Jamboree & Stroller Club (drop-in!)

Where: Pictou Library
When: Weekly, every Thursday at 10:00AM, starting June 4th, 2026

Join us for the Jitney Jamboree! Weekly on Thursdays at 10am, with the Jitney Juniors Stroller Club.

"Jitney Juniors" (babies/toddlers) and their Grown-Ups (parents & caregivers) are welcome to walk along the water, followed by a "Jamboree" at the library featuring stories, songs and plenty of playtime for the little ones!

Where to Meet: We will meet at the back patio of the library and finish in the Rainbow Room!

The Jamboree & Stroller Club are for everyone! All paces & abilities are welcome.

All are welcome to drop by and join us (in-person or online) for a research presentation and discussion, with historian, Dr. Malcolm Bangor-Jones. A reception to follow, from 2-3pm. This program is co-hosted by the McCulloch House Museum, Pictou County Roots Society, and the Provincial Library, Province of Nova Scotia.

About the Presenter: Malcolm Bangor-Jones is a historian with a particular interest in the Scottish Highlands. He lives in Scotland but has been visiting Canada for over 20 years and is moving towards finishing a major project on the migration of people from Sutherland in the north of Scotland to Canada.

Dr. Bangor-Jones’s work has appeared in academic journals, collections of essays, and local publications.

As a historical consultant he has undertaken research for several organizations, is an expert on Scottish family history, and has assisted with a number of episodes in various countries of Who Do You Think You Are?

Now available at the Trenton Library!

The Beta Reader Spot is an exchange hub located at the Trenton Library where writers can test out their work on their target audience, and readers can get involved in the development of a book.

Writers leave a manuscript with the library, give us some information about their book, and choose the type of feedback they would like. Beta readers can pick a book by target audience, read the manuscript, and provide feedback for the writer.
